      MOURNING the death of Robert T. Brandt, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community
      WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great State of New York; and
      WHEREAS, Robert T. Brandt of Windsor, New York, died on Sunday, January 9, 2011, at the age of 84; and
      WHEREAS, Born on January 8, 1927, Robert T. Brandt was lead engineer of Operating Engineers Local 825; and
      WHEREAS, This outstanding man distinguished himself in his profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of his community; and
      WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Navy, Robert T. Brandt served in both World War II and the Korean War; he embodied a brand of fervent patriotism that is rare these days, a passionate love for his country; he always wore a red, white and blue tie coupled with his Veterans of Foreign Wars hat; and
      WHEREAS, Robert T. Brandt was a member of American Legion Post 86 in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania; VFW Post 2261 in Windsor, New York; and Masonic Lodge 396 in Deposit, New York; he was also a longtime Mason, Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner; and
      WHEREAS, His commitment to excellence, and his spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including charitable and civic endeavors; and
      WHEREAS, Predeceased by his son, Robert T. Brandt Jr., Robert T. Brandt is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Hazel; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and George Keenan, Cheryl and Bill English, and Terri and Thomas Miller; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis Brandt, and Thomas L. and Elsie Brandt; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patty Brandt, and Helen and Dave Feest; and nine grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews; and
      WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of compassion, and comforted by a loving family, Robert T. Brandt leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
      RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to mourn the death of Robert T. Brandt, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it further
      RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the family of Robert T. Brandt.

    • Robert T. Brandt, 84, of Windsor [NY] died at 8:07 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011 at his home. He was predeceased by his son, Robert T. Brandt, Jr.

      He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Hazel Brandt, Windsor, his daughters and sons-in-law: Lynn and George Keenan, Maryland, Cheryl and Bill English, Vestal, Terri and Thomas Miller, Johnson City; sons and daughter-in-law: Thomas L. and Elsie Brandt, FL, Dennis Brandt, Windsor; nine grandchildren, two sisters and brother-in-law: Patty Brandt, Helen and Dave Feest, all of Chester, NY and also several nieces and nephews.

      He was lead engineer of Operating Engineers Local 825, a Navy Veteran of WW II & Korea, member of American Legion Post 86 in Susquehanna, VFW 261 in Windsor, F & AM Lodge 396 in Deposit, Kalurah Shiners, and Loyal Order of Moose.

      Funeral Services were held at the Windsor Presbyterian Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. Rev. Kevin Rollo officiated. The family received friends at the church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Kalurah Shriners Transportation Fund, 625 Dickinson St. Endicott, NY 13760.
